One final tune up awaits for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving program before the Liberty League Championships in February as the Golden Knights head to Vermont to compete in the annual Middlebury Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Meet: Although the invitational is non-scoring for the teams, it is a good measuring stick for the Golden Knights, taking on a top-10 program in Williams College, a regional standout in Middlebury, as well as Liberty League foe St. Lawrence University.

The Women: The best performances of the 2024-25 season have generally come from the first-year collegians. Evelyn Vieira has twice broken the diving records at Clarkson and she also performed well at another deep field in December, the Don Richards Invitational hosted by RIT, where she placed fifth in the 3-meter. Fiona Reilly posted a pair of top-five finishes at the same event, coming in fourth in the 200 breaststroke and fifth in the 100 breaststroke. Reilly also had a winning time in the 200 individual medley in the North Country Invitational, hosted by SUNY Potsdam, prior to the Thanksgiving break. Likewise, Aurora Zary won the 200 backstroke at the NCI and then was fourth in the same event at the Don Richards Invitational.

The Men: The best times of the year are normally reserved for the Liberty League Championships when swimmers are gearing up, but a few may challenge the Clarkson record book this weekend. Calvin Woolfolk posted two top-four finishes in the breaststroke events at the Don Richards Invitational, as did Casey Everett, performing in the 500 freestyle and the 1650 freestyle. Senior Michael Schroeder won all three of his starts at the North Country Invitational (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly) and was then in the top five for those same three events at the Don Richards Invitational a few weekends later. Both Andrew Sammons and Owen White won individual events at the NCI (200 breaststroke for Sammons, 400 individual medley for White) and each was in the top five at the Don Richards Invitational as well.
