The winter has so far cooperated with the outdoor sports in terms of weather. For the first time in three years, the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team and the rest of the MacConnell Division won't have to play catch up at West Mountain, settling for two races this weekend instead of three in Queensbury, NY.

The Team: Due to cancellations earlier in each of the last two seasons, the MacConnell Division forced three giant slalom races into a weekend at West Mountain, providing plenty of familiarity for the veterans of the Golden Knights' Alpine squad.

The Women: In 2024, Elyse Donaghue was the first Clarkson female skier to win a MacConnell Division race in close to a decade, taking the top spot in the last of the three giant slalom events at West Mountain. She has performed well in two seasons there, finishing in the top seven four other times outside of her victory. Classmate Hannah Goetz has also been in the top five on four occasions, while Kylie Brino and Kyla Butler were in the top 25 in all three races last year.

Through six races, Clarkson currently sits in third place in the MacConnell Division standings with four third-place finishes, one fourth, and one sixth. Hannah Goetz ranks fifth in the individual standings with five top-six placements. Ariana Welter has not finished her last three races, but still ranks eighth thanks to three top-five finishes.

The Men: The Golden Knights are second in the MacConnell Division team standings with three runner-up spots and three third-place finishes. Edouard Brochu is seventh in the individual standings having finished in the top eight for all six races. Jackson Knobloch is ninth with three top-10 finishes, and Reed Martin is 13th by finishing in the top 16 on five occasions. Josh Jusiak (16), Pedro Gonzalez (17), Noah Marino (19), and Zach Zientko (20) are also high in the MacConnell Division standings, just short of all-star status (top 15).

Josh Jusiak has eight collegiate races under his skis at West Mountain, finishing as high as fifth and placing in the top 18 on seven occasions. Reed Martin has also been in the top 18 five times with a high water mark of 10th as a freshman. Jackson Knobloch and Zach Zientko have both been in the top 20 on three occasions.
