As usual, a deep field awaits the Clarkson University Golf team at the Duke Nelson Invitational, as the Golden Knights will compete in the annual two-day, 36-hole tournament at Middlebury's Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

The Team: The Ralph Myhre Golf Course usually plays as a par-71, making scores a bit lower than usual, but the Golden Knights out did themselves in 2013, when the squad posted a 597 to finish second among 22 teams. Since that runner-up finish, the Knights have been outside the top 10 in nine straight trips to Middlebury. The group of Ryan Makowski, Eric Spoth, Tyler Yacawych, Daniel Wilson, and Jon Tiderencel hopes to break that streak and get back into the top half of the field. Ryan Makowski leads the team in scoring average thus far at 71.67 strokes per 18, having shot 72, 71, and 72 in three competitive rounds. Makowski scored 154 a year ago at the Duke Nelson, as did classmate Eric Spoth. Averaging 73.33 strokes per 18 this fall, Spoth has played well in 2024, scoring 74.1 strokes per round in the spring and fall seasons combined. Yacawych and Wilson have each averaged 77.33 strokes per 18 holes this fall, with Wilson scoring fewer than 80 strokes in nine of his last 10 outings. Tiderencel is also averaging fewer than 80 strokes per round this fall, scoring 79.33 in the early going.
