Scores have been low for the last couple of weekends for the Clarkson University Golf team, but the Golden Knights and the rest of the conference will be challenged over 54 holes this weekend at the Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, NY.

The Course: Shenendoah Golf Club is a par-72 course, the first time the Golden Knights will play a par-72 this spring. The Blue tees measure 6520 yards and the Black tees measure 7013 yards, so the expected yardage will likely be on the lower end of that measurement.

The Team: For the first time in several seasons, all five golfers that are heading to the Liberty League Championships sport scoring averages below 80. For the first time this season, Eric Spoth has the lowest scoring average on the team thanks to an impressive score of 143 over two days at Bethpage Red in Farmingdale last weekend. Spoth has shot 70 or lower in two of his last three rounds to lower his season scoring average to just 76.15 strokes, the first golfer to challenge an average below 76 since head coach Tyler Cline posted a 75.72 scoring average in 2014-15. Had Ryan Makowski not faltered slightly on day two at Bethpage, he would also be pushing for the top spot as he is at 76.67 strokes per 18 holes. Andrew Palmatier has been the team's most consistent golfer in 2023-24 with 12 of his 15 rounds below 80 this year and a range of 72 to 81 strokes, giving him a scoring average of 77.00. The other two golfers coming along to Verona this weekend are Daniel Wilson and Aaron Walsh. Both have scoring averages just below 80 this year, with Wilson at 79.67 and Walsh at 79.75. Wilson has been sub-80 in six of his last seven competitive outings, while Walsh has posted seven sub-80 rounds, including his last three turns.
