Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Knights Tie #10 Vassar on Senior Day

Potsdam, N.Y.- Defenses shone on top as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team was held to a 0-0 tie against Vassar, Saturday afternoon on senior day.

Clarkson moves to 6-1-7 overall, 2-1-4 in the Liberty League as they enter the "home stretch" of the 2024 campaign with three games remaining. Before the contest the Golden Knights honored Luis Cervantes, Josh Conklin, Jack Donnelly, Logan Drake, Kai Endo, Eric McKean and Remi Ufheil as part of the class of 2025.

The visitors managed to create better opportunities through the first half, while neither team managed to construct a clear-cut chance on goal. Clarkson's best chance of the half came in the 14th minute as a corner from the right side was floated in towards the penalty spot. Josh Baraka was able to out-muscle his marker connecting on a left-footed shot that looked headed towards the bottom left corner of the goal before it was blocked by a Brewer defender.

Vassar nearly opened the scoring in the contest in the 25th minute off a free-kick shot from Arden Tobolski. The shot from the right-side was driven towards the top right corner of the goal where Carter Kladstrup got a palm on the ball to tip it over the bar.

The Brewers opened the second half with a newfound sense of urgency, looking to catch the Golden Knights out of rhythm early on. Daniel Medina provided the Knights with one of the best chances of the half off a free-kick from just outside the left side of the 18-yard box. His shot fizzed around the wall, headed dangerously towards goal before being collected by a grateful Jacob Raphan, in net for the Brewers.

Kladstrup was forced into two almost identical saves in the 58th and 67th minute as Vassar attackers broke through the left side of the Clarkson defense. Both shots were driven low to the corner but were smothered nicely by the junior, making sure no scraps remained for the visitors to pick up.

Few chances presented themselves through the remainder of the match with neither team being able to manufacture a clear scoring opportunity.

Kladstrup was credited with three saves in net for the Golden Knights, while Raphan collected two.

Vassar led the way in shots (15-9), shots on goal (3-2), and corner kicks (11-2).
