Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Knights Win Fifth Straight on Goals from Grady and Endo

Rochester, NY – Two first half goals, including one on a penalty kick, proved enough for the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team, as the Golden Knights picked up their fifth straight victory, a 2-1 win over RIT to open Liberty League play Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 5-1-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in conference games, while RIT suffered its first loss of 2023, falling to 2-1-3 and 0-1-0. Clarkson has one more road game, at Skidmore College on Wednesday, before beginning a long stretch of home games in October.

The first half saw Clarkson outshoot RIT 4-2, with neither of the Tigers' attempts going on frame. Clarkson did put two on goal in the first half, and both of the Knights attempts between the posts resulted in goals.

Clarkson got on the scoreboard midway through the second half as Nolan Grady connected for his second goal of 2023 off an assist from Tayte Wong at 28:58. About 15 minutes later, with less than 90 seconds remaining in the half, Garrett Drake was whistled for a foul in the penalty area, allowing Clarkson an opportunity from the stripe. Kai Endo buried the shot at 43:35 to put the Knights up 2-0.

RIT returned the favor with a penalty kick of their own at 75:18, with Joshua Price netting his fifth goal of the season. However, Clarkson's defense would shut down the Tigers the rest of the way, not allowing a shot or a corner kick for the final 14-plus minutes of the contest.

Clarkson finished with 12-6 lead in shots overall and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. The Knights also led in corner kicks 3-1. Josh Morelli made one save to pick up the win for the Knights, while Jason Trapp stopped two shots for RIT.
