Rochester, NY – Junior Mack Walton scored off a rebound in the 10th minute and that was all the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team would need as the Golden Knights gained a Liberty League victory over RIT, 1-0, Saturday afternoon.

The Knights improved to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Liberty League, while the Tigers dropped to 2-6-1 and 0-2-0. Clarkson will be on the road again on Tuesday when it travels to take on Skidmore College.

The Tigers have nearly doubled up opponents in shots this season (125-71), but Clarkson finished with a 12-7 advantage in that category, limiting RIT's offense to just a handful of chances.

Clarkson's lone goal of the contest came early on. Senior Stephen Klimek rifled off a shot that was denied by goalkeeper Spencer Raymond-Smith, but the rebound bounced out in front where Walton was able to put the loose ball away at 9:28.

RIT had a chance to tie things up in the 33rd minute, but Nick Simone's penalty kick hit his attempt off the cross bar and the ball went out of play to end the threat.

Ian Roeloffs made three saves in the Clarkson frame for the shutout, while Spencer Raymond-Smith stopped seven shots for the Tigers. Clarkson had a 12-7 edge in shots, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The two teams each finished with three corner kick chances.
