Knights Offense Continues to Roll in 19-10 Win Over St. Lawrence

Canton, NY – Senior Jaid Baytos continued her dominance of St. Lawrence University, scoring seven points on three goals and four assists to help lead the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team to a 19-10 victory over the Saints on Wednesday night.

The Golden Knights (10-6, 6-3 Liberty League) clinched a spot in the top four in the Liberty League with the victory and will host one of the two first round games next Tuesday against an opponent yet to be determined. St. Lawrence fell to 4-11 and 2-7 on the year.

Clarkson's 19 goals were the most against St. Lawrence in 44 all-time meetings, surpassing the 15 recorded by the Knights in 2009. In the past three games against the Saints, Baytos has owned St. Lawrence, scoring an overtime game-winner against St. Lawrence in 2017 and producing a total of 21 points (15 goals, 6 assists).

The Knights and Saints played relatively even for the first 12 minutes of the game, with the Green and Gold holding a modest 3-2 lead after Claudia Barbera scored at the 18:55 mark for the Saints. However, the Knights scored nine goals in the final 18 minutes of the half. The run began with a goal by Abby Collins at 17:35 and she picked up another score at 14:18 to give Clarkson a 6-2 lead. St. Lawrence still trailed by just three at the 10:28 mark when Alexandra LaMotte converted for the second time in the game, but the final 10 minutes of the period saw Clarkson pick up four more goals for a 12-6 lead at the break.

Clarkson flirted with a 10-goal advantage for a portion of the second half, finally reaching a double-digit advantage at the 12:45 mark when Katie Sergeant scored her third goal of the game to put the Knights up 18-8. The team was quiet for the next nine minutes until Natalie Farnett added to the scoring roll, becoming the 10th different player to score at least one goal in the game for Clarkson.

Baytos led the team with seven points and was followed by freshman Sydney Roderick, who tallied a goal and four assists. Katie Sergeant and Abby Collins each scored three goals and added one assist, while Aubrey Borgesi also produced three goals. In addition to her game-high seven points, Baytos added four groundballs, five draws and caused two turnovers. Samantha Gladd also recorded eight saves before being relieved by Sydney Christiansen, who made one more save for Clarkson.

For St. Lawrence, LaMotte scored five times and Barbera had three points on a goal and two assists. Hannah Drechsel caused three turnovers and Olga Lukas made five saves.
