At the midway point of the conference season, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team is just a single point out of first place, but the Golden Knights will face a tough challenge on Saturday when they take on eighth-ranked Ithaca College at Hantz Field.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: In 47 meetings, Clarkson has won 16 times with a pair of ties against 29 defeats, but the Knights are unbeaten in the past three seasons against Ithaca. Clarkson claimed 2-0 and 2-1 wins in 2016 and 2017, respectively, while the two teams battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie in 2018.

Key Stats for Clarkson (6-3-2, 2-0-2 Liberty League): In the first five games of the season, the Golden Knights allowed eight goals, nearly matching the total the team allowed (10) in the entirety of 2018. However, Clarkson has rediscovered its defensive prowess in a recent stretch, giving up just a single goal in the past six games. Clarkson's nine goals allowed rank third in the Liberty League, just one more than Hobart and three more than Ithaca. Ian Roeloffs' numbers have continually dipped during Clarkson's recent stretch, as his goals against average has fallen below one (0.92) and save percentage is a strong .804. Senior Erick Naula is tied for second on the team in scoring this year with four points thanks to a pair of goals, and he has enjoyed success against the Bombers, scoring a goal in the 2017 victory against Ithaca and assisting on another in the 2016 win.

Key Stats for Ithaca (10-1-1, 3-0-0 Liberty League): A United Soccer Coaches' Second-Team All-American in 2018, goalkeeper Max Lichtenstein leads the Liberty League in goals against average (0.50) and shutouts (7) while falling just short of the conference lead in save percentage (.880). He has played all but 16 minutes of the season in the Ithaca goal and has been particularly dominant in league play with a 0.35 goals against average and .917 save percentage. Sophomore Theo Scott leads the team in scoring with 11 points on five goals and an assist. Six more players have scored two goals and the constant offensive attack by the Bombers has made opponents flustered, with Ithaca gaining three 'team' goals when the opposition has accidentally put the ball in their own net.
