Shea Tiley and Nick Strandholm Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Junior Shea Tiley of the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team and senior Nick Strandholm of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team each were selected CoSIDA Academic All-District (At-Large) winners when the awards were announced on Thursday afternoon.

Tiley was picked as a CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 (At-Large) since that was her placement as a Division I student-athlete, while Strandholm was named CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 (At-Large) as a Division III student-athlete. Both now advance to the national ballot with selections to be announced in a few weeks.

Tiley, who has a 3.88 grade-point average through five semesters while majoring in Biology, helped lead the Golden Knights to their second NCAA Division I Women's Hockey National Championship in March 2017. Selected All-USCHO Second-Team and ECAC Hockey Third-Team, Tiley ranked seventh in the country in both save percentage (.931) and goals against average (1.58). She also posted a 28-4-5 record with six shutouts for an .824 winning percentage, the third-best figure in the nation. Tiley was particularly impressive down the stretch with three shutouts in the final five games of the season, including a 41-save effort against top-ranked Wisconsin in the Knights' 3-0 victory to win the national title.

Strandholm, who posted a 3.99 grade-point average through seven semesters while majoring in Civil Engineering, was chosen as a Liberty League Honorable Mention All-Star for the second time in three seasons thanks to his performance in the crease for the Golden Knights. He closed out 2017 with a 9.84 goals against average, .537 save percentage and 154 saves, averaging 10.27 saves per game. Strandholm also ended his career with 530 saves, the third-most in Clarkson history, along with 21 victories. It was the second time Strandholm was chosen as a CoSIDA Academic All-District honor, as he gained the accolade after the 2015 season as well.
