Grobe and Shea Repeat as CoSIDA Academic District 3 Winners

Senior Stephanie Grobe and junior Madison Shea of the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team were recognized for their efforts on the basketball court and in the classroom on Thursday when the duo was selected for CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 honors.

It was Grobe's third straight year as a CoSIDA selection and Shea's second straight year, an impressive feat considering only five or six selections are made for the entire region per year. It marks the 15th and 16th times, respectively, that Clarkson Women's Basketball players have been chosen for CoSIDA honors since 1989.

Through seven semesters, Grobe has compiled a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in Biology. This season, she is averaging 10.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 41.4% from the field. Grobe has ascended the all-time leader boards at Clarkson this year, as she is now 11th all-time in scoring (925 points), eighth in field goals made (389), ninth in assists (218) and fifth in blocked shots (74). Grobe has earned numerous other honors besides the CoSIDA All-District selections in the last three years. She was a unanimous selection for Liberty League All-Rookie team in her freshman year of 2013-14 and was named the Liberty League Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2015-16, while also being chosen as a Liberty League Honorable Mention All-Star.

Shea has a perfect 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in Engineering and Management through her first five semesters at Clarkson. In the first 21 games of the 2016-17 season, Shea is averaging 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.6 steals per game, with the latter two figures ranking in the top three in the Liberty League. Through 75 career games, Shea has already amassed 621 points and 336 rebounds. She already ranks seventh all-time at Clarkson in both assists (233) and steals (170).
