Four Earn All-Star Nods, Yam Named Liberty League Coach of the Year

Sophomore Camryn Careccia headlined a group of four student-athletes from the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team that were selected as Liberty League All-Stars when the conference announced its end of the year awards on Tuesday morning.

Careccia was chosen as a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star, while senior Paige Spittler and sophomores Giulia Mahoney and Elyse Green were picked as Liberty League Honorable Mention All-Stars. Second-year head coach Kelsey Yam and assistants Steve Domino and Jeff Gold gained Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Careccia tied for fourth in the league in goals scored (8) and was tied for seventh in total points (17), gaining her first all-league nod. Three of her goals came in league play, tallying scores against Ithaca, Skidmore and St. Lawrence.

Spittler was a steady defender for the Knights all season, starting in back in all but one non-league game during the season.  She never came off the field in 14 of Clarkson's 18 contests and helped the Knights to six shutouts.

In goal for those six shutouts was sophomore Elyse Green. The second-year goalkeeper ranked second in the league in total saves with 92 and produced a goals against average of 1.22 with a save percentage of .800.

Another defensive stalwart for Clarkson was midfielder Giulia Mahoney. The sophomore recorded one assist, but it was her even play in both ends that helped Clarkson set up offensive opportunities even if she was rewarded with the point on the scoresheet.

Yam, in just her second season at the helm of the Golden Knights, guided the Golden Knights to an 8-7-3 overall record and a 4-4-1 mark in Liberty League play. Clarkson advanced to the league tournament for the first-time in program history and the team's eight wins marked an improvement by three from a year ago. The four victories in conference play were the most ever by the Knights and equaled the total that Clarkson recorded in its previous seven seasons.
