Aird and Isaksen Named CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Selections

Senior middle hitter Rachael Aird and sophomore Kate Isaksen of the Clarkson University Volleyball team picked up more post-season honors on Thursday, this time earning recognition for their work as student-athletes, gaining CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 selections.

Isaksen becomes the eighth student-athlete for the Clarkson Volleyball program to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, joining Aird, who also was picked in 2016, Victoria Kirkemo (2014-2015), Erika Chin (2011-2013), Sara Artus (2011), Hilary Lockwood (2008), Suzanne Clarvoe (2004-2005) and Heather Sill (2003).

Aird becomes the fourth Golden Knight to repeat as a CoSIDA Academic All-District winner thanks to a 3.735 grade-point average with a major in Biology. Aird, who will graduate in December, recently was chosen as an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention for the second straight year, finishing her career with a .311 hitting percentage, 3.18 kills per set and 0.84 blocks per set during 2017. Her 1282 kills place her fifth all-time at Clarkson (and the most for a middle hitter) while her 289 total blocks are the sixth most in program history.

Isaksen, who has a 3.62 grade-point average with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics, is coming off a season in which she led the nation in digs per set (6.85 dps) and came up just 10 digs short (753) of leading the nation in that category as well, despite playing in 18 fewer sets than the national leader in that category. Earlier this week, Isaksen was named an AVCA Division III All-American Third-Team member, becoming only the fifth player in Clarkson history to be chosen to one of the top three All-American squads.
