Men's Soccer Preview - Knights Host Rivals Saints

As another season comes to a close, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team will look to knock off arch rival #19 St. Lawrence when they host the Saints on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Hantz Turf Field.

Entering the final weekend of the regular season, the Saints find themselves on top of the Liberty League with a record of 12-2-2 (6-1 Liberty League) and can clinch the regular season title with a win or a Skidmore College loss. After becoming the #9 team in the nation in last week's poll, the Saints sunk back down to #19 following a 1-0 loss to Skidmore. Defense has been the key for St. Lawrence this season, as goalkeeper Aaron Costello has posted 13 shutouts and allowed only three goals all year. Andrew Bednarsky guides the offensive end with five goals and seven assists, as well as Mark Provost with five goals and five assists.

The Golden Knights come into the final weekend of the year with a record of 3-11 (1-6 Liberty League). Marco Parisi (Guilford, CT) and Angelo DiFrancesco (Penfield, NY) lead the team with seven points each. Parisi has led the team in scoring all year, with three goals and an assist, and DiFrancesco has added a goal and five assists on the season. Tucker Wilcox (Broadalbin, NY) also has three goals for the Green and Gold. In net, Alex White (Unadilla, NY) and Michael King (Verona, NJ) have each started seven games, and King has posted two shutouts. Defenseman Trevor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY) has scored a goal and led the backline all year, making play after play to prevent scoring chances for the opposition.
