Syracuse, NY - Although school records did not fall this weekend at the UNYSCSA Championships, several individuals enjoyed standout performances for the Clarkson University Women's Swim team at Nottingham High School.
The Golden Knights finished in 15th place among 17 squads with 119 points at the three-day championship event. Clarkson's men will compete next weekend at the same site.
Senior Amanda Bragan (Auburn, NY) appeared most among the top individuals for the Knights, as she finished 20th overall in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.04) and 23rd in the 200 breaststroke (2:42.04). Freshmen Kim Stillittano (Binghamton, NY) and Colleen Daly (Manlius, NY) also gained points for the Knights' final tally. Stillittano finished 22nd in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:06.54, while Daly endured the 1650 freestyle in 19:25.94 to finish 24th.
Though the 400 medley relay team was disqualified on the opening day, four other relays approached the school marks, though none would better the times from last season. The 200 freestyle relay of Laura Shaddak (Oswego, NY), Amanda Bragan, Emma Bonan (Queensbury, NY) and Jillian Brown (Kenmore, NY) finished 13th with a time of 1:44.97, while the 400 freestyle team of the same swimmers, in reverse order, also placed 13th in 3:52.46. The 200 medley relay squad of Caitlin Joyce (Walden, NY), Bragan, Shaddak and Brown finished 14th in 2:01.20, while the 800 freestyle relay group of Elena Kuo-Leblanc (Scituat, RI), Stillittano, Daly, and Bonan also placed 14th in 8:45.03.
