Freshman Matt Cyr (Cheshire, CT) of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team played a big part in the Golden Knights' playoff-clinching victory on Saturday, and was rewarded on Monday as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week.

Cyr, who shared the honor with a player from St. Lawrence, scored five points over two games. In a loss to St. Lawrence, Cyr scored a goal on two shots and caused a turnover. In a 10-8 win against Union, Cyr proved valuable, scoring a game-high four points with a goal and three assists. He also added a groundball and a caused turnover against the Dutchmen.

For the season, Cyr is the second-leading rookie scorer for the Knights with 10 points on 6 goals, including two game-winners, and 4 assists. He also has contributed 13 groundballs.
