Saryn Campbell scored twice against Utica - Josh Fogarty

Potsdam, NY - Four unanswered goals midway through the second half switched the momentum in Wednesday's game between Utica College and the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights came up on the short end of a 13-12 loss in non-league action at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights saw a three-game winning streak come to a halt with the loss, moving to 3-2 overall, while Utica improved to 3-2.

The scoring was slow going in the first half as the teams found themselves tied at just 1-1 through the first 13 minutes of action. Both teams enjoyed short runs of offensive production, and Clarkson found itself on top 7-5 at the half.

Through the first 10 minutes of the second half, it appeared as if Clarkson might pull away, leading 11-7 with less than 15 minutes to go in the contest. However, Tammy Kohanski scored three goals for the Pioneers in a span of 1:33 to bring Utica back to within a goal. Two more scores in the next two minutes put Utica up by a goal as the Pioneers continually won the draw controls, minimizing Clarkson's offensive opportunities.

A goal from senior Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) with 5:38 remaining knotted the game up at 12-12, but Kohanski scored her fourth goal of the second half less than two minutes later to put the Pioneers up once again. Though Clarkson had a few chances in the final 30 seconds of the contest, none of their attempts got through Utica goalkeeper Shelby Barbay.

Junior Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) had five points on four goals and an assist and senior Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) added in five points on three goals and two assists to lead Clarkson. Breed had two goals and two assists and freshman Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT) added two goals and an assist. Robyn Baumgartner (Bethel, CT) also had a goal and Brittnie Carroll (Dexter, NY) contributed an assist. Freshman Nikki Corso (Derry, NH) led the team with eight groundballs.

For Utica, Kohanski had five goals and two assists to lead all scorers. Jackie Vicencio also contributed three scores and Julianne Schultheiss scored twice. Lily Fleskes, Kelly Regan, and Laura Keating each added a goal.

Shelby Barbay made 17 saves for Utica, while freshman Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) made 12 saves for Clarkson.
