Geneseo, NY - A pair of scores early in the second half gave Geneseo a mark of revenge over the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team, which defeated the top-20 ranked Blue Knights last season, as this year the Golden Knights fell 2-0 to Geneseo Friday afternoon.
Both teams moved to 1-2 on the season. Clarkson looks to even its record tomorrow when the team faces the University of Rochester.
The first half was fairly even as Clarkson trailed 5-3 in shots, but led 5-4 in corner kick opportunities. The second half was a different story for Geneseo as the Blue Knights held a firm advantage of 14-2 in shots, finishing the game up 19-5 in that category.
Colin Begy scored in the 56th minute on a cross from 10 yards out by Jason Tartick, and then the Blue Knights followed up with a score in the 64th minute by Tartick from in close with the assist going to Nick Prosser.
Senior Mike St. Croix (Watertown, NY) made eight saves in 90 minutes for the Golden Knights while Mike Madarasz stopped one shot for the shutout for Geneseo.
