A slow start on the road hurt the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team’s chances of picking up a non-league victory as the Golden Knights lost 16-7 at Utica on Wednesday afternoon.
Clarkson fell behind 5-0 before the game was 10-minutes old and trailed 7-3 at the half to the Pioneers (8-7). Utica opened the second half on a 7-0 run to hold a commanding 14-3 lead with 19 minutes left to play.
Junior Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) paced the Green and Gold offensively with three goals and one assist. Sophomore Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) added two goals and one assist. Senior Lindsay Walker (Syracuse, NY) and sophomore Brittnie Carroll (Dexter, NY) also scored for Clarkson. Senior Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) recorded two assists.
Casey Pelletier tallied a game-high 10 points, including six goals to lead Utica.
The Pioneers out shot the Knights 29-28. Both teams had 18 groundballs. Senior Meagan Emlaw (Norfolk, NY) posted six saves and recorded a team-high five groundballs.
At 2-11, Clarkson closes out the season hosting SUNY Potsdam on Sunday at Clarkson Field, beginning at 12 noon.
