A trio of Golden Knights tallied three goals each for the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team on Saturday, but it was not enough as the Golden Knights fell on the road, dropping a Liberty League contest, 16-12, to the University of Rochester.
Clarkson kept it close throughout the opening 30 minutes and trailed by only two goals, 8-6, entering the half. The Yellowjackets (1-4, 1-1), however, opened the second frame on a 7-1 run to take a commanding 15-7 lead with 18 minutes left to play.
Senior Lindsey Grigg (Watertown, NY) recorded a team-high four points, including three goals, while sophomores Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) and Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) scored three goals apiece.
Lindsay Dakin paced the Rochester attacker with a game-high seven points, including six goals.
Junior Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) chipped in one goal and one assist for Clarkson, while freshman Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) and Jenna Stock (Johnstown, NY) rounded out the Green and Gold scoring with one goal each.
The Yellowjackets held a slight 33-31 shot advantage and controlled groundballs 22-16. Senior Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) made 12 saves in the Knights’ goal. Chace picked up a game-high five groundballs and forced four caused turnovers.
At 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference, Clarkson will look to break out of a three-game losing skid when it plays at North Country rival St. Lawrence University in a 7:30 pm game Tuesday night in Canton.
