KNIGHTS DROP GAME TO CORTLAND, 3-0

Potsdam, NY - Matt Daum scored a goal and added an assist as Cortland shut out the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team 3-0 in a non-league game Friday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 1-5 overall while Cortland evened their record at 3-3 on the season. Clarkson ends a streak of non-conference play tomorrow when they host RIT. The Golden Knights open the Liberty League schedule next weekend when the visit Vassar and Rensselaer.

Daum scored the game's opening score at the 22:24 mark in the first half when Zak Tonovitz sent an indirect kick towards the goalie box which Daum was able to head in over the outstretched hands of Clarkson goalie David Hennessey (Wading River, NY).

In the second half, Jordan Berg trickled in a shot that just went over the end line at the 48:36 mark, with Baum recording the assist. Sean Malone closed the scoring for the Red Dragons at the 80:27 mark.

Ross Morelli recorded four saves for the shutout for Cortland. Hennessey finished the game with five saves. Cortland out shot Clarkson 12-5 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
