CROWLEY SCORES OVERTIME GAME-WINNER FOR KNIGHTS
With 2:56 remaining in the first overtime, Justin Crowley (Central Square, NY) sent a line-drive kick past Potsdam goaltender Ryan Hayes to score the game-winner as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team completed a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Potsdam State Tuesday night.
Crowley received the pass on a header from Dan Fitzpatrick (Oneonta, NY) at the 97:04 mark. Senior co-captain Mark Bahr (Rome, NY) started the play just a few seconds earlier on a throw-in from deep in the Potsdam zone.
The Golden Knights, who improved to 1-1-1 on the season, fell behind in the first half 1-0 despite dominating the play. The Bears scored late in the first half when Jered Condon scored from just inside the 18-yard box.
Clarkson continued to outperform the Bears in the field for most of the second half and their tenacity finally paid off when Crowley scored his second goal of the season on a header from less than 10-yards out. Jason Pickhardt (Orchard Park, NY) assisted on both of Crowley's goals.
The Golden Knights return to action this weekend when they host Nazareth College at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Clarkson Field.
